Pictures and more!

To keep from boring you with my complaints I'm choosing to excite you by using the word "adventures" while describing our incidents and flat out "AHHHH!" moments!

Our first adventure took place wednesday night, the night of our arrival. After the excitement dwindled a bit we drove into town (up the hill, down the hill, around the deer and through the trees)! Since I have this new and ridiculous diet where I have to eat fresh or I cant function, we went to the grocery store to see what we can drum up to cook on what we thought was the one pot we had packed with us. (we didn't have that pot) When we returned somewhere around 8pm, we realized that the deadbolt to the front door that does not have key access had been locked, as was the back door dead bolt and the garage door was not yet connected to my car. We were locked out. You didn't forget about that cold front gracing us with it's presence did you? Oh! And it was Vance's birthday, so while we were at the grocery store he seen these gourmet cupcakes (so beautiful) and he and Tae needed to have one. My kids don't bode well with sugar but it was his birthday, so they each got a chocolate one with cookies and cream frosting and an Oreo on top! Looked delicious! So at 8:00 at night Nick (yup I'm calling him out) allowed them to eat their cupcakes while we waited for the locksmith to allow us entry into our new and super warm and cozy home. They did exactly what I expected about 5 minutes later, they went crazy. We have neighbors, we're not technically in the sticks, but for as quiet as it is out here we may as be. You can here a thousand crickets chirping, if thats what they are, (there are so many creatures here that are new to me!) and then there are my sugar high children going nutso! Cupcakes went away, cleaned them up, put them back in the car and drove around the neighborhood looking at christmas lights. TWO hours after the inital call, there is a hole drilled into my back door and my bank acct is drained a couple hundred bucks, but we were then thawed and tucked safely into our uncomfortable air mattresses and throw blankets. Oh, and in case you were wondering, I made my tortellinis in a cake pan in the oven, not that bad actually ;)
Tagen said she wanted to hold the mountain! That's in New Mexico:)

We were camping out making s'mores and watching a movie, this a nightly event!

Deer in our back yard! The kids flipped out the first time they seen them!
That's a centipede... in my house... alive!

Not how I planned!

Back in October when I had the idea of doing this blog to keep all of you on this journey with us I was still living in Lala-land! I had this idea where Nick would come back home to Tracy from Texas on the airplane and I would have the house all packed up. We would climb into our car, buckle in the kids, puts some head phones on them and have a nice adventurous 3 day drive to New Braunfels, Tx to our new home where all of our stuff would be waiting for us and I could publish posts and pictures on this blog each day for you. THAT SO DID NOT HAPPEN!
In reality what happened was this...
My house was not packed up when Nick got home from his trip to TX. I tried really hard and I did have a good amount packed up, but it wasn't nearly enough!
Once the kids were safely tucked away in Laton for 5 days, Nick and I got busy at the Tracy house and because of the way the PODS were delivered we ran over our time planned to be finished and had to go back up there after Thanksgiving for another full day of packing and loading and renting a trailer that we had to pull:/ <---- super frustrated face.
We were able to stay in Laton a few extra days and had the chance to spend more time with family which was wonderful! And a quick Thank you to Grandma and Grandpa Wells for coming down to Laton to see us! It was so nice to see you guys!
We didn't have internet for most of the trip due to all of the lovely desert we drove through! The kids were actually amazing! They did so well and it got us thinking...
Our poor parents. The kids were keeping busy with their own devices and laughing and playing with each other. Nick asked me what we did on our road trips before all of the modern technology that our kids are blessed with and we and answered simultaneously... "we fought!"
Then it changed from 'our poor parents' to 'we are so lucky' LOL!
We saw some pretty cool sites and I'll load some pictures later on.
We got to our new home the morning of Vance's 4th Birthday. The house is beautiful and the neighborhood is absolutely lovely!
We took a tour of the house and it was even more than expected, including the scorpion i found lurking in the laundry room closet! Now I have a fear that travels through me every time I open up a closet!
We are on day of four of living minimally because my wishful thinking idea of the PODS being here when we arrived wasn't even close to being accurate! Nope! They actually just left Fremont, CA on Friday... hopefully. That's what they said was scheduled anyway. Now they have them scheduled to be delivered on the 17th of this month. The 17th, incase you thought you misread that, you didn't. That means, we're sleeping on air mattress's, sitting on camping chairs, watching movies on laptops, cooking with one pan and one pot that I had to buy, eating off paper plates and going to the laundry mat. I. AM. NOT. HAPPY. On the bright side, we're getting out and seeing lots of the beautiful Hill country and spending A LOT of quality old fashioned family time!
